Opening a training course on tourism profession and English communication skills

On Sep. 17th, at the Van Hai eco-tourism complex (in Quan Lan, Van Don), in order to improve the quality of human resource working in tourism sector, the Quang Ninh Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has opened a training course on tourism profession and English communication skills for 80 learners who are officials and employees working in tourism industry from Van Hai Viglacera JSC.
The aim of the course is to provide the learners with basic knowledge of tourism profession skill and organize hand-on activities to help them improve their skills as well as ability of speaking English, creating confidence in serving the tourists who come to explore Van Don.
As scheduled, the course lasts one month, focusing on the contents, namely: reception skill training (such as communication skills, tourist marketing, check-in procedures...), and English communication skill training.

Cruise tourism in Southeast Asia begins to boom
|
Cruise tourism in Vietnam is growing in the context that this segment begins to boom in Southeast Asia.
Phan Xuan Anh, chairman of Viet Excursions, said cruise lines from the U.S. and Europe are promoting new destinations in Asia, including Vietnam. Therefore, the company has recorded a rise of 1.5 times in the number of orders for the tourism season from November 2012 to April 2013, the best growth so far.
Viet Excursions not only caters to cruise ships arriving in Vietnam, but also those visiting Cambodia. From Cambodia, tourists can take chartered flights to Thailand, and then travel to Singapore.
Meanwhile, Saigontourist estimated the company would welcome 130,000 international cruise tourists this year, rising 25-30% against 2011. Along with the cruise ships coming from Asian countries, Saigontourist is receiving cruise ships from Europe and many international river cruise ships.
In the next tourism season, from November 2012 to March 2013, Saigontourist will welcome some 80,000 tourist arrivals, mostly those coming from China on cruise ships operated by StarCruises.
Cruise tourism in Southeast Asia begins to boom. Large cruise ships in the world have made presence in the region, dropping anchors in Singapore, one of the regional countries with strength in cruise tourism.
This is informed in a press release of the division for ASEAN cruise tourism under ASEAN Tourism on the occasion of the two-day conference Cruise Shipping Asia-Pacific opening on Monday in Singapore.
Large cruise ships such as Costa Deliziosa of Costa Cruises, or those operated by Royal Caribbean and Voyager of the Seas choose Singapore as the main port from now to 2013. Other ships of Costa Cruises and those of StarCruises have already chosen Singapore as the main port.
They are also expanding the port network into Kuala Lumpur, Langkawi, Penang, and Malacca in Malaysia; Bangkok, Phuket, and Koh Samui in Thailand; Bali and Komodo in Indonesia; and HCMC, Danang and Halong Bay in Vietnam.

Vietnam’s tourist sector focuses on France

Vietnam’s travel agencies are showcasing their products and services at the 34th international tourism fair, IFTM Top Resa 2012, in France from September 18-21.
The event attracts around 6 million visitors annually with 500 stands occupied by businesses from 39 countries around the world.
Taking part are companies in the fields of civil aviation, the arts, construction, jewellery, restaurants, hotels, trade, industry, information technology, sports and entertainment.
Apart from various tourism products, Vietnam’s four stands at the fair promotes attractive destinations across the country.
The country is targeting to welcome 7 million arrivals this year, with over 200,000 coming from France .
Le Trung Dung, who is in charge of tourism at Vietnam’s Cultural Centre in France, said that Vietnam’s presence at the exhibition will promote the country’s tourism industry in France in particular and in the EU in general. As one of Vietnam’s traditional markets, France holds a lot of potential and there is a great deal of demand for the country’s tourist sector to develop, he noted.
Sharing Dung’s views, Vo Anh Tai, Director of the Sai Gon Travel Service Company (Saigontourist), said about a move to tap into the market’s potential, that a range of new products are being introduced at the fair, especially the ‘four countries-one destination’ programme which has attracted the interest of many international visitors.
Le Dung, head of Vietnam Airlines’ representative office in Europe, said he hoped that through the fair, even more French tourists will come and visit Vietnam and Indochina .
Vietnam Airlines will also work with the Vietnamese Embassy to promote the country’s tourism in France, he stated.
