Diversifying documents about President Ho Chi Minh

On October 16th, in Hanoi , Ho Chi Minh Museum held a seminar on researching, making statistics, and gathering documents on relics and memorials about President Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam.
More than 110 researchers and experts in the fields of preservation and museum related to President Ho Chi Minh nationwide participated in the seminar.
Participants at the seminar discussed the methods of preservation and restoration for original objects, values of scientific profiles, and professional skills in management and construction.
According to relevant agencies, up to 2009, there were more than 600 relics and memorials about President Ho Chi Minh in 35 provinces and cities nationwide. These works had great contribution to popularization of the life and fine ideology of President Ho Chi Minh./.

Vietnam host Comedy 2012

(CPV) – The Japanese Film Festival: Comedy 2012 organised by the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange in Vietnam will take place in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Phan Thiet from October 25 – December 1, 2012.
When overseas, Japanese, businessmen in particular, are seen as very serious and not good at telling witty jokes to foreigners. In an extreme case, some even believe Japanese look like Noh masks, never showing any emotional expressions on their faces.
However, they tell jokes to each other, laughing at comical dramas on TV, on stage, and on film. In short, their sense of humour is enriched with various cultural products, including films.This year’s Japanese Film Festival introduces the diversity of comedy in hopes of sharing their laughs and smiles with the Vietnamese audience. Eight popular and smash-hit films all made in 2000s have been carefully selected to showcase the variety of comical senses in Japanese film.
The films will be screened at the festival including Cannonball Wedlock; A Good Husband; Permanent Nobara; The Chef of South Polar; Double Trouble; Summer Days with Coo; Mind Game; Hush!
The event will take place in Hanoi from Oct 25 to Nov 4 at the National Cinema Centre, in Phan Thiet from Nov 16-18 at the 19/4 Cinema, and in Ho Chi Minh City from Nov 24 – Dec 1 at the Dong Da Cinema./.

Books on Vietnam, Laos special ties make debut

A collection of works on the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam special relationship in the 1930-2007 period made debut at a ceremony in Hanoi on October 19.
The works are the result of a joint project implemented over more than four years by historians and researchers of both countries, in line with an agreement between senior leaders of the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party.
The project aimed to sum up, evaluate and draw historical lessons from the relations between the two Parties, States and peoples of Vietnam and Laos during the revolution process of the two countries, under the leadership of the Indochina Communist Party in the early time and later of the Vietnam Communist Party and the Laos People’s Revolutionary Party.
The collection comprises the main work entitled “The History of the Vietnam-Laos, Laos-Vietnam Special Relationship”, a collection of the two countries’ Party and Government documents, a chronicle, a collection of memoirs of party and government leaders of both countries, as well as of Vietnamese voluntary experts and soldiers serving in Laos in various periods, a pictorial book and a documentary film entitled “Vietnam-Laos Epic”.
Addressing the event, President Truong Tan Sang emphasised the need to popularise the works and at the same time, strengthen coordination with the Lao side to further research and improve the quality of the works in preparation for republication./.
