An exhibition featuring more than 40 contemporary Vietnamese artworks in Malaysia is grabbing attention from local and international audiences.
On the opening day on October 17, the exhibition attracted more than 100 art lovers, Malaysian officials, and representatives of diplomatic corps.
In his opening speech, Vietnamese ambassador to Malaysia Nguyen Hong Thao expressed his hope that the event, the first of its kind ever held in Malaysia, will introduce local and international friends to the distinctive features of Vietnam’s contemporary art, helping them further understand the country, its culture and people through paintings.
He said the exhibition will help strengthen the friendship and cooperation in culture and tourism between Vietnam and Malaysia.
The silk-, oil-, and paper-paintings have been done by Mai Long, Do Xuan Doan, Dang Can and several other young artists. They illustrate the beauty of Vietnamese nature, people and their daily lifestyle.
These artworks were exhibited in Britain, France, the US, Italy, Switzerland, Canada, and Finland, winning popular acclaims.
The exhibition, due to last until October 28, is part of activities to celebrate 40 years of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Malaysia in 2013.
An art troupe from Vietnam will fly to Malaysia to perform for Vietnamese and local nationals in Penang and Kedah states next week./.
