National Day travel down this year
|
Several tourist destinations in the country saw a decline in tourist numbers during the recent National Day holiday, and one of the main reasons was the cut in spending on travel by people
The Khanh Hoa Province tourism authorities said the average occupancy rates were 40 per cent in one-star hotels, 55 per cent in two-star hotels, and 60 per cent in three – to five-star hotels, not as high as usual.
Da Lat hotels were not as crowded as in previous years. A group of overseas Vietnamese visitors to Da Lat on September 2 were happy to easily get rooms at prices only slightly higher than normal.
Binh Thuan tourism authorities said resorts and hotels in Mui Ne and Phan Thiet saw high occupancy rates since holidaymakers flocked to the province for the first Viet Nam International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta.
Tran The Dung, deputy director of the The He Tre Travel Company, said the number of customers booking tours during the National Day holiday was down 40 per cent from last year.
But Saigontourist Travel Service Co said bookings were up 8 per cent at over 10,000 during the holiday.
