Vietnamese fans welcomes Korean movie star
|
VietNamNet Bridge - Cha Ye-Ryeon and Johnny Tri Nguyen have been selected as the ambassadors for the first Vietnam-Korea Film Festival
The two ambassadors of the festival are the two famous artists in their countries. Cha Ye-Ryeon (starring in the movies My Little Black Dress and Sector 7 and the TV series The Royal family (2011), Dr. Champ (2010), Invincible Lee PyungKang (2009), Star's Lover (2008), Working Moms (2008), Naughty Love (2007) from Korea and actor Johnny Tri Nguyen representing Vietnam will together participate in various activities to promote the festival.
Cha Ye-Ryeon said: "It is a great honor when I’m invited to be an ambassador for the first Vietnam-Korea Film Festival and have the opportunity to visit your great country. I think the whole world is inspired from the Korean wave through the bridge of cinema. I hope the Vietnamese audience will love our films at this festival."
Johnny Tri Nguyen, the star of "Clash" and "The Rebel," is one of
the two ambassadors of this festival.
Besides Cha Ye-Ryeon, director Choo Chang-Min will come to Vietnam to attend the premiere of “Masquerade”, which is chosen to open the Vietnam-Korea Film Festival on October 18 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The festival will be held from October 18 to 24 at the MegaStar Crecent Mall in Ho Chi Minh City and from December 6 to 8 at the MegaStar Vincom Towers in Hanoi with the meaning "Connect the souls".
The 10 films selected for the festival this time have the presence of many famous Korean actors. It's Lee Byung-hun (Masquerade), Ha Ji-won (As One), Yoon Eun-hye (Little Black Dress), So Ji-Sub (Always), Kim Yun-seok (Punch) ....
2012 is the year marking 20 years of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Korea and is selected as the 'Year of Vietnam - Korea Friendship" with many cross-cultural and art events, including the Vietnam-Korea Film Festival.

Asia Book of Records with Vietnamese cuisine artwork

VietNamNet Bridge – A Vietnamese cuisine artwork entry submitted by the Vietnam Book of Records or Vietkings made by a mother and daughter team has been named in the creative category in the Asia Book of Records, announced the Indian office.
The cuisine artwork made by Ton Nu Thi Ha and her daughter Phan Ton Tinh Hai of the Mint Culinary School in Ho Chi Minh City was called ‘Phuong Hoang Vu-Bat Phong Hoi Dau’ (Royal Phoenix Cake).
It measured 6.8 meters in length and 4.2 meters in width and was made from more than 5,000 bamboo toothpicks that connected 4,862 items made from ingredients like mung bean, rice flour and vegetables and took 18 people more than three months to make.

The duo accomplished this artwork with original ingredients that were used by Tran Vien of the Hue Imperial Palace in 1925.
The work is well ahead of another work made in the 1920’s which was a replica design of a nine floor pagoda tower that was 1.5 meters in length and 1 meter in width, for the funeral of the Queen Mother Tu Cung.

VietNamNet Bridge – Literature lovers in the capital city will get the chance to meet award-winning Italian novelist Gianrico Carofiglio, whose latest thriller has been translated into Vietnamese.
Carofiglio will launch his book The Past is a Foreign Country in Ha Noi on Monday. The book was translated by Tran Hong Hanh and it's Vietnamese title is Qua Khu la Mien Dat La. Known as a psychological thriller, it explores some of the dangers and temptations faced by youth in modern society.
The book's English translation won the 2005 Premio Bancarella Italian literary award. This award first honoured Ernest Hemingway in 1953 for his novel The Old Man and the Sea.
"We are very happy to meet the famous Italian writer Gianrico Carofiglio, who is coming to Viet Nam for the first time," said Italian Ambassador to Viet Nam, Lorenzo Angeloni. "I believe that his original style will seduce new readers who can be added to the long list of his fans."
Gianrico Carofiglio is among the most famous and widely read contemporary novelists in Italy. A former anti-Mafia judge in the Italian city of Bari, he is known for psychological thrillers. His works have been translated into 24 languages and adapted into movies.
He will meet with the public at 5pm on Monday at Trung Nguyen Coffee Creativity Space, located at 52 Hai Ba Trung Street, Ha Noi.
