Vietnam market with eyes of Kazakhstan airline
Air Astana has decided to open a direct air route to Vietnam because the country is a potential market of nearly 90 million consumers, says Air Astana President Peter Foster. VnExpress wire quoted Foster as saying with a dynamic economy and a large population, the Southeast Asian nation has great air travel demand, and Air Astana still finds room for a slice of the cake. According to Foster, both Kazakhstan and Vietnam have developed a fine political relationship. The two countries have entered a new period of economic cooperation, especially following the Kazakhstan President’s visit to Hanoi in October 2011. During a visit to Kazakhstan from September 9-11 by State President Truong Tan Sang, both sides agreed to launch a direct air route between Almaty city, the former capital of Kazakhstan and the nation’s largest city, and Ho Chi Minh City, the largest economic hub in Vietnam. The first flights are scheduled to take off this December. The launch of the air route is part of Air Astana’s long-term investment strategy to promote economic, trade, and investment, as well as tourism cooperation between the two countries, said Foster. Air Astana is rated as the best in Kazakhstan, and the first four-star airline in East Europe and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). It will vie for market share in Vietnam, and premium quality services are the airline’s competitive advantage, said the CEO. It plans to conduct two flights a week, carrying a total of between 80-100 passengers in the first phase. It will target Kazakh and Vietnamese tourists, entrepreneurs, and guest workers./.

Welcome Bamboo 2012 festival
(CPV) – Following the successes of the concerts in 2008 and 2010, the 3rd percussion festival titled “Cracking Bamboo 2012” will be held by the Goethe Institute in Vietnam on September 6-10. “Cracking bamboo” promises to present another very colourful, surprising and creative project. On the foundation of percussion instruments and rhythm, “Cracking Bamboo” combines Asian and Western music for an exceptional and unique sound. The festival also supports the cultural exchange between western and eastern nations, and besides the music, it is an initiative to support innovative methods and practice in the field of music and performance arts. The various artists will present themselves musically at the courtyard of the Goethe Institute on October 6th and will present their show at the Youth Theatre in Hanoi on October 7th and at the Conservatory in Ho Chi Minh City on October 10th This year, around 31 participants from Asia and Europe, including Germany, Norway, France, England, Mongolia, Canada, Belgium, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, will come together for workshops in Bangkok. From Vietnam, three percussionists from the music academy Ho Chi Minh City will take part, and three musicians from Hanoi will play Vietnamese string instruments, like the “Dan Bau”, and the traditional bamboo xylophone “Dan T`Rung”. According to Goethe Institute, “Cracking bamboo” presents music which is the result of artists creating on the same level, in respect for the musical culture of others. It is a wonderful adventure of listening for both the musicians and the audience./.
