Oudomxai is normally bypassed by tourists en route to the more popular tourist destinations of Luang Namtha in the north and west and Luang Prabang to the south and east. However, the countryside of Oudomxai offers a very good sample of what northern Laos has to offer, with virtually no tourists to be seen.
