Stung Treng is Cambodia's northern gateway and can best be described as an outpost visited by tourists on the way between Ratanakiri and Laos. The province is bordered by Laos, Ratanakiri, Mondulkiri, Kratie, Kompong Thom, and Preah Vihear. Tourism has yet to take off here, although the small village of O Svay is being discovered as an alternate site to view the rare Mekong river dolphin.
