In the morning at 8am you will departure for the Cu Chi Tunnels, 70 km northwest of Hochiminh City. The Cu Chi Tunnels are an impressive network of tunnels with a length of over 250 km. This strategic place was used by 15,000 Viet Cong fighters during the war. Despite all the bombings, Cu Chi people were able to continue their lives beneath the soil, where they slept, ate, planned attacks, healed their sick and taught their young. Some even wed and gave birth underground.
Return to Saigon for lunch, then we continue our day with a visit to the highlights of Saigon including: • The Central Post Office: a huge hall with admiring French colonial architecture • The Notre Dame Cathedral, another of the fingerprints the French left in the city of Saigon • The Reunification Palace, used to be the official residence of the Presidents of the former South Vietnam government • The War Crimes Museum. Here you can see images on displays; some of which are impossible to forget. After that, a visit to the Haven Emperor Temple (Emperor of Jade Temple) will be followed and you can join the religious atmosphere of the local people. End of the journey approximately at 5pm.
