“Chu Van An – an eternal teacher” was introduced at the book release ceremony at Quoc Tu Giam (Temple of Literature), Hanoi on September 29.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Trieu Dinh Phuc, the secretary of Thanh Tri district party committee said: Over more than six centuries, there have been many pieces of research on the life and career of Teacher Chu Van An, from across the country. However, there have not been any comprehensive and systematic pieces of research on Chu Van An.
On the occasion of the 720th anniversary of Teacher Chu Van An’s birthday, Thanh Tri district of Hanoi compiled and released the book to show respect and honour to the Teacher Chu Van An. Through this, it is enhancing education and the traditional fondness for learning and patriotism.
The book includes 5 chapters: Chu Van An’s homeland; life and career; educational career; literary career; and some Chu Van An relics. The book is based on many document sources, supplying full information for readers about the life, career and contributions of teacher and celebrity Chu Van An.
On the occasion of releasing the book, Thanh Tri district presented 720 copies to Chi Linh district, Hai Duong city; 16 communes of Thanh Tri district, party committees and district party cells, representatives of schools in the district and Chu Van An school in Hanoi.
Chu Van An was born in 1292 and died in 1370. From his childhood, he was famous for his intelligence. However, he did not dream of taking part in exams to become a mandarin like other students. Chu Van An stayed at home and taught himself by reading books, and opened a school on unoccupied land in the nearby Lanh Huynh village.
His school quickly became famous in the village and many students from other places came and asked to attend. Many of his students became successful and held high positions, such as Pham Su Manh and Le Quat./.
