Vinh Nghiem – a unique temple in Vietnam
|
VietNamNet Bridge – Besides two Buddhism prayer books with over 21,000 words inlaid with gold, Hue Nghiem Temple in Binh Tan district, HCM City has many other special things.
The temple holds two Vietnamese records: The largest ironwood doors carved with 20 Buddhism characters and the largest Amida Buddha statue (8m tall, 16 tons in weight) that is created from perfumed tree.
Hue Nghiem is also the place where has the fist missionary institute of the over-2,000 year history of Vietnamese Buddhism.
This is the first place for research and train monks who are specialized in keeping the commandments in Vietnam.
Hue Nghiem temple was set up by venerable monk Thich Thien Hoa in 1962. The monk died in 1978.
