The copyright of the UK reality cooking show “MasterChef” has been purchased by the BHD Multimedia Company, and Vietnam Television (VTV) will broadcast the show in Vietnam under the name “Vua Dau Bep – MasterChef Vietnam”.
The program will officially receive registrations across the country in early December. Before coming to Vietnam, “MasterChef” has been produced in more than 35 countries around the world, and broadcast in 200 countries and territories, in which MasterChef Australia and MasterChef US are the most well-known versions.
Vietnamese-Australian chef Luke Nguyen, known as the host of the television series ‘Luke Nguyen's Vietnam’, will be a member of the jury. Another judge is Chef Hoang Khai, the renowned businessman behind Khai Silk. The final member of the jury will be announced soon.
“I’m so happy to be a judge for the show as well as to have a chance to come back to Vietnam to share with people the love of cuisine, especially Vietnamese cuisine,” Luke Nguyen stated at the press conference announcing the show on October 2.
The winner of the competition will receive VND500million (US$25,000) in cash and a contract to publish a cook book.
“Vua Dau Bep – MasterChef Vietnam” is scheduled to produce 20 episodes which will be broadcast at 8pm Friday nights, starting March 8, 2013./.
