Speaking at the opening ceremony on October 5, Ambassador to Japan Doan Xuan Hung expressed hopes that the event will further the friendship and trust shared by the peoples of both countries. Participants were shown an impressive documentary introducing Vietnam, its land and people, as well as its culture and iconic food. Japanese friends were also given an opportunity to enjoy Vietnamese folk songs and the traditional music instrument “T’rung” through a performance by Japanese artist Kumiko Oguri. Hiroyuki Yushita, FEC’s Executive Director and the former Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam, stressed the significance of the event, acknowledging that the Vietnamese-Japanese relationship has been developing well at both national and grassroots levels. He vowed to advance Vietnamese-Japanese exchanges as part of celebrating the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two countries in 2013./.
