Vietnamese, French museums hold joint exhibitions
|
Vietnam’s National History Museum will work alongside the Guimet Museum of Asian art to hold an exhibition on the Vietnamese dragon at the Parisian museum.
An agreement to this effect was signed during a visit to Paris by representatives from the National History Museum from October 24-30.
Both museums discussed issues concerning their joint organisation of exhibitions in 2013 and 2014 to mark the 40 th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic ties.
The Vietnamese delegation also met with the Director of France’s Army Museum, Lieutenant-General Christian Baptise.
They agreed to hold a joint exhibition on Indochina covering the 1858-1956, from October 2013 to January 2014.
Vietnam’s National History Museum will compile and prepare photographs, documents and various artifacts for the exhibition, while the Army Museum will help collect exhibits, display them and also fund the event.
The Director of Vietnam’s National History Museum , Nguyen Van Cuong, said that joint initiatives between Vietnamese and French museums have often taken place in the past.
Both countries have supported each other in this field with the French government donating 2 million USD to the Cham Museum of Vietnam and assisting the Vietnamese Women’s Museum and is holding an exhibition on the Champa culture at the Guimet Museum in Paris .
Cuong said he is sure that both these exhibitions will be impressive and help forge closer cultural ties between both countries./.
