(CPV) - Around 30 colorful balloons of different shapes and sizes shaped like a golden cat and golden pig from Vietnam, and ice-cream sundae from the US, and a ripe orange and cartoon elephant from Europe will perform in the first Vietnam International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta (VIHABF 2012).
Around 50 international balloonists from the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, the United States, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia and the host Vietnam will take part in the festival hosted by southern province of Binh Thuan, carrying national flags of the participating countries.
The highlight of the event will be a grand gala dinner featuring lantern effects by the balloon teams to celebrate Vietnam National Day on September 2.
Speaking at the press conference held in Hanoi on July 17, Mr Ngo Minh Chinh, Head of the Binh Thuan provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said VIHABF promises to be a prominent nation’s cultural event this year, which is expected to attract huge number of both local and foreign spectators.
“Celebrating the province’s 20th founding anniversary, the festival illustrates the progress the province and the country have made towards international integration and also promotes local and foreign investment”, said Mr Chinh.
The festival will also include a series of activities including a musical show, and a glowing night performance in which the balloons will be decorated with lanterns and fly with a background of music.
Hang-gliding, aircraft and traditional kite demonstrations and performances will take place from 8.30am-17pm every day, and musical shows will be held at night. The best height for performances are 100 -200 meters, covering 19 kilometers.
Beside, a marine tourism trade fair, a photography contest and exhibition titled “Binh Thuan- Sunshine and blue sea” will also be held as part of the festival.
The VIHABF is expected to take place annually in April./.
