Tunisian-French rock and hip hop vocalist Emel Mathlouthi will perform at IDECAF in Ho Chi Minh City on September 6 and L’Espace in Hanoi on September 8.
Born in 1982, Mathlouthi made her first steps into music at the age of eight. Since then, she has immersed herself in classical, Arabic and Latin American music through her father’s records. Her music is a successful mix of Arabian and Middle Eastern styles.
She has made great strides in her career with a unique musical style influenced by folk music, psychedelic rock and Arabian songs.
At the show to be held by the Cultural Centre for French Cooperation in HCMC at IDECAF on September 6, Mathlouthi will perform rock, Eastern music and “trip-hop”, a genre combining electronic and hip hop music.
In 2006, Mathlouthi artist won the RMC-Doualiya music awards at the Price RMC Middle East competition, and was dubbed “female voice of 2012” at the Babel Med Music Awards. In January 2012, she released her latest album, titled “Kelmti Horra.” (Ma Parole est libre).
She has been invited to perform in countries around the world, such as Canada, Yemen, Ecuador and Georgia, and has become one of the top singers of modern Arabian music./.
