British TNT music theatre will present two extraordinary performances of “King Lear”, one of Shakespeare’s best-known tragedies in Hanoi capital on October 30 and 31.
This is the fifth time TNT theatre has come to Vietnam. The event is being put together by British TNT theater and the Vietnam Performing Arts Center under the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The play, directed by Paul Stebbings, was written between 1603 and 1606 and has been wildly acclaimed by the public.
It also has been widely adapted for the stage and motion pictures with the role of Lear being coveted and played by many of the world's most accomplished actors.
This year “King Lear” has been performed in more than 10 countries over the world. Many works by William Shakespeare, including “Hamlet”, “Macbeth”, and “Romeo and Juliet” have been staged by British TNT Theatre at major art festivals around the globe.
In co-ordination with the Centre for Performing Arts, British TNT Theatre has successfully staged many plays in Vietnam including “Romeo and Juliet”, “Christmas Carol”, “Macbeth” and “Oliver Twist".
Previously, the “King Lear” tragedy was performed for Vietnamese audiences in HCMC Opera House on October 25-27 and will be performed at Danang’s Trung Vuong Theater on November 2./.
