(CPV) – Number of foreign tourists to Vietnam from the start of the year to October reached an estimated 5.35 million, a year-on-year rise of 11.2 percent, according to the General Statistics Office (GSO).
The figure showed the target of welcoming 6.5 million foreign tourists in 2012 completed 82.3 percent of the plan.
The number of foreign tourists to Vietnam by air mostly made up of the figure with 4.47 million arrivals, up 11 percent year on year. However, over the past ten months, the number of foreign tourists visiting Vietnam by sea doubled with nearly 60,000 arrivals.
Some countries and territories with the number of foreign tourists higher than that of the same period last year were the Republic of Korea (RoK) (590,000 arrivals, up 35 percent), Japan (475,000 arrivals, up 23 percent), Taiwan (349,000 arrivals, up 18.1 percent) and Malaysia (233,000 arrivals, up 24.6 percent)./.
