(TITC) - Covering an area of 100ha, Ha Noi Old Quarter was founded from the 11th century as crowded trade area where artisans and traders concentrated to work and set up specific trade streets. The artisans from craft villages around former Thang Long Citadel gathered in areas which specialized in their work. This reason made the trade streets develop more and more. Every street was noisy, animated in trade and work as a miniature craft village.
Arriving Ha Noi Old Quarter, tourists will also be attracted by cultural values in about 100 old architectural works including tube-shaped houses with sloping roofs, communal houses, temples, pagodas… Today, Ha Noi Old Quarter is an attractive destination for tourists who want to learn about the 1000-year history of Thang Long – Ha Noi.
To serve and support tourists in visiting Ha Noi, Tourism Information Technology Center published the tourist map of Ha Noi Old Quarter (English version) 2012.
