Savannakhet province is inviting tourists from around the world to enjoy a tourism and trade fare with exhibitions from Laos, Vietnam, Thailand and Myanmar from October 27-31 to celebrate Visit Laos Year 2012.

The exhibition is to take place at Savan-ITECC in the Kaysone Phomvihane district of Savannakhet.
“The aim of this event is the development and promotion of Laos' cultural, natural, and historical resources in accordance with the government's socio-economic development plan,” said Savannakhet Governor, Dr Souphanh Keomixay, adding that the fair is one of many activities supporting Visit Laos Year 2012.
On behalf of Savannakhet province and its people, he is inviting domestic and international guests to the event where they will be able to experience the diversity of four countries.
During the five-day celebration, visitors will also be invited to attend a seminar on cooperation for the development and promotion of East-West Economic Corridor tourism, tourism integration of five central provinces and the economic corridor linking Vietnam and Thailand.
This includes tourism integration, development and promotion of Laos, Thailand and Vietnam along national roads Nos. 8 and 9.
Visitors will also be able to enjoy art and cultural performances from Laos' Savannakhet province, Vietnam's Quang Tri province, and Thailand's Mukdahan province.
There are many other interesting places for tourists to visit while they are in Savannakhet.
The That Inghang stupa in Kaysone Phomvihane district was built in 400 BC and has become the symbol of Savannakhet province. The district is also home to the noted Xayaphoum temple.
Xayphouthong district is home to the That Phon stupa in Phonthat village, built in 236 BC. Visitors can also enjoy Heuan Hin (Stone House) in Dongdokmai and historic road No. 9.
There are also places of interest in Champhone district such as Hortay, a collection of Pali and Sanskrit language manuscripts in Nonglamchan village and the Monkey Jungle in Dongling village.
