Nordwind Airlines from Russia's Republic of Buryatia has officially operated a new air service linking its capital city of Ulan-Ude and Vietnam’s coastal central city of Cam Ranh by the first flight on May 28, using a Boeing 767-300 aircraft.
After Baikal International Airport in Ulan-Ude was expanded and upgraded, the Airlines opened many direct routes to meet travel demands of visitors to popular tourism sites in China and Mongolia
In June, Nordwind Airlines will launch two new direct flights to Antalya (a city on the Mediterranean coast of southwestern Turkey) and Bangkok in Thailand. Besides, It also plans to open similar flights to Japan and the Republic of Korea.
Established in 2008, Nordwind Airlines carries passengers and cargo worldwide. Its head office is in Moscow.
In 2011, Baikal International Airport received 187,000 passengers and expected to reach 250,000 passengers this year, as well as a record of 500,000 by 2015.
As scheduled, by 2014, the Airport will receive a total investment of over 1 billion roubles, (around 33 million USD)./.
