Nhan Dan Newspaper launches online Chinese version
Nhan Dan (People) Newspaper officially launched its online Chinese language version at a ceremony in Hanoi on August 30. The ceremony was attended by Politburo member, Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee (CPVCC), and Head of the CPVCC Commission for Communication and Education, Dinh The Huynh; CPVCC member and National Assembly Vice Chairman, Huynh Ngoc Son; and senior officials from Party commissions, ministries and sectors; as well as the Charge D’affaires of the embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Vietnam, Jiang Zaigong; representatives from the Chinese Xinhua news agency and the People’s Daily; and representatives from Vietnamese press agencies. In his speech, CPVCC member and Editor-in-chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Thuan Huu, highlighted the newspaper’s important milestones over its 61 years operating as ‘the Voice of the Party, State and People of Vietnam’. Nhan Dan published its first issue on March 11, 1951 in the Viet Bac War Zone during the anti-French Resistance War. It has always been on the front lines of national construction and defence, serving as the voice of the Party and State, as well as a reliable forum for the people during the country's two struggles for national liberation, reunification and renovation. Nhan Dan newspaper has disseminated and encouraged the implementation of the Party’s guidelines and the State's policies and laws. It also aims to reflect the people’s opinions, aspirations, initiatives and will. Nhan Dan Online was officially launched on June 21, 1998, becoming Vietnam’s first official electronic newspaper, he added. Editor-in-chief Thuan Huu affirmed that, along with the Vietnamese and English language versions, the debut of the Chinese language version of Nhan Dan will realise the instructions of the Politburo and Party Central Committee Secretariat and also mark a new development for the newspaper. It will create an accurate, reliable and attractive channel for Chinese speaking communities around the world to understand the viewpoints and policies of the Vietnamese Communist Party, the State of Vietnam and the Vietnamese people, and help foster friendship and co-operation between Vietnam and China. The Chinese version of Nhan Dan Online (http://cn.nhandan.org.vn) includes 11 categories: politics, world, economics, society, culture, sports, travel, friendship bridge, archives, video clips and photo stories. Addressing the ceremony, Politburo member Dinh The Huynh spoke highly of Nhan Dan Newspaper’s thorough preparations and co-ordination with other relevant agencies to launch the Chinese online version, adding that its debut will help popularise the Party's and State's policies, viewpoints and lines, and contribute to implementing the external policies of multi-lateralisation and diversification, as well as consolidating the traditional friendship between the people of Vietnam and China. The Politburo member also urged the Party newspaper to continue fulfilling all its assigned political tasks for renovating both the content and layout of the newspaper to make it more attractive and persuasive./.
