In the first nine months of 2012, more than 550,000 foreign tourists visited Vietnam’s central coastal city of Hue, a year-on-year increase of nearly 11 percent, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
Accommodation income in the city reached nearly VND1 trillion, up 25.6 percent.
Since early this year, business in Hue focused on attracting tourists from Asia, especially from Thailand and China. Currently, Thailand tops the list of foreign tourist markets of Hue.
Thailand and China often organise caravan tour groups to Hue. Over the last nine months, China organised International long-road Caravan groups with 30 self-driving cars and 150 members, including reporters, international tourists, and businessmen crossing China, Laos and Thailand to Hue. This is the largest International Caravan group to Hue since early this year.
The number of foreign tourists arriving in Hue by sea also increased. Besides an air route through Phu Bai Airport and a trans-Asia road route, in 2102, Thua Thien-Hue Province greeted a total of 25 cruise ships arriving at Chan May Port with nearly 4,000 tourists.
The Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism said that in the first nine months this year, the city’s tourism sector greeted and provided services for more than 418,400 foreign tourists. Total tourism earnings reached more than VND1.3 trillion, a year-on-year increase of 5.4 percent.
Over the past few months, Haiphong welcomed four foreign cruise ships carrying 786 tourists from the US, France, England, Australia, Canada and the Republic of Korea. Travel agencies arranged tours taking the tourists to Hanoi and some tourism destinations to the countryside./.
