(CPV) – CAMA, in collaboration with the Japan Foundation, will bring famous female Japanese rapper Coma-Chi to Hanoi for one night only at CAMA ATK, 73A Mai Hac De street on Thursday 23 August 2012.
Coma-Chi hit the music scene in 2003, building her reputation through performances in Tokyo and participation in MC Battles. She gained notoriety for her freestyle street rapping and for regularly showing the boys how it’s done on the sidewalk.
She released her first solo album Day Before Blue in 2006. Featuring solid rhyming, and a telling influence from 90s hip hop, the album commanded attention, and got it from the Japanese music charts in its first week of release.
In 2007, Coma-Chi’s efforts were recognised by Blast Magazine, who listed her as one of the Ten Future Japanese Rappers to watch. In July of 2008, Coma-Chi announced that she had signed a record deal with the Knife Edge/Pony Canyon label, and made her major debut in 2009 with the album Red Naked. This was followed up in 2010 with Beauty or the Beast? The album that drew plaudits for Coma-Chi’s singing ability as well as her talent for spitting self-made rhymes.
Lately, the queen of Japanese hip hop founded her own management company, Queen’s Room, a move she hopes will give her greater creative control to develop her sound.
Coma-Chi’s performance will mark her Hanoi debut and the first chance for Hanoi hip hop fans to see the unique sounds of this talented, best-selling rap artist./.
