A selection of 145 films from 25 domestic and 42 overseas studios will be shown at the sixth Vietnam International Cinema, Television and Sports and Tourism (FICTS) Festival, which will take place in Hanoi from July 4-7.
Speaking at a press conference in Hanoi on July 2, Phan Dinh Tan, Deputy office Chief of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, said that the festival is an opportunity to screen works made by domestic and international film studios and TV channels on sports and tourism.
It also gives Vietnam a chance to promote itself, its potential for tourism as well as its people’s love of sports, part of the Vietnamese cultural identity.
The organising board said that to date it has received 145 entries, including 70 films with a sporting theme and 75 that focus on tourism. The genres covered will include documentaries, feature films, science and educational programmes, game shows, animation programmes that promote tourism and advertisements.
Vietnam brings to the event several special works including ‘Duong Dua’ (The Race), ‘Le hoi dam trau’ (Buffalo Fighting), “Le hoi cong chieng” (Gong Festival).
The International FICTS Festival was first held in Monaco in 1982.
Since it joined the 103-member FICTS in 1999, Vietnam has taken part in the festival 11 times.
