In the first nine months of 2012, the number of foreign tourists to Ho Chi Minh City reached more than 2.7 million, a year-on-year increase of 12.3 percent, according to statistics from the city’s department of culture, sport and tourism.
The figure makes up 71.9 percent of the city's plan for the year, and 56 percent of total foreign tourists to Vietnam in the period.
Over the last nine months, more than 2.1 million foreign tourists arrived in the city by air, up 11.5 percent from the same period last year. The number of foreign tourists arriving by road and sea reached 544,000, up 15 percent.
Total tourism revenue in the first nine months reached VND48 trillion, a year-on-year rise of 25 percent, and hitting 70.5 percent of the year’s plan./.
