The Vietnam Heritage magazine and HCMC’s Cultural Heritage Association on Wednesday announced the Vietnam Heritage Photo Awards which is open to all Vietnamese citizens and foreigners living in Vietnam aged 18 or over.
The contest is among the activities to mark Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day on November 23 and to call on people’s awareness to promote and preserve both cultural and natural heritages in Vietnam.
Participants can apply a single photo or a collection with the theme of landscapes, the country and people which does not exceed 3MB to vietnamdisan@gmail.com or by sending a photo disc to Vietnam Heritage magazine at 15A/28 Le Thanh Ton Street in District 1. Artists should give clear captions for their photos stating the time, venue, characters, name of the work and name of the author and/or text explaining more details about the photo.
Deadline for applications is October 1. Prior to the award ceremony, which will take place on November 22 at the Rex Hotel in District 1, there are numerous exhibitions held from October 24 until the end of November in HCMC, Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, Hoi An, Halong, Hanoi and Can Tho.
Organizers expect to grant 20 prizes including two first prizes (a Canon IXUS S100 camera and a Canon Selphy 810 printer), two second prizes (a Canon IXUS 240) and four third prizes (a Canon PowerShot A4000) for both single photo and photo collection criteria. There are ten more consolation prizes of a one-night-stay at a resort in Vietnam and a special prize of a Canon PowerShot G12.
The judging panel consists of Le Thanh Hai, editor-in-chief of the Vietnam Heritage magazine, photographer Dao Hoa Nu, photo-journalist Nguyen Ba Han and Andrew James Gordon, proofreader of the magazine.
