The Israeli national carrier, El Al, has finalized an order for two additional Next-Generation Boeing 737-900ERs, adding to El Al's previous order in March 2011, bringing the total number to six 737-900ERs on order.
The two-airplane order is valued at approximately $179.2 million at current list prices.
The Next-Generation 737-900ER replaces the larger, single-aisle Boeing 757, which ceased production in 2004. The 737-900ER can seat up to 215 passengers in a single-class configuration and has a range of up to 3,235 nautical miles (5,990 km).
"These additional airplanes will help us expand our fleet to meet the growing demand from our customers and to serve the growing markets in our network," said Elyezer Shkedy, Chief Executive Officer, El Al.
El Al's 737-900ERs will also have the Boeing Sky Interior which features new modern sculpted sidewalls and window reveals, LED lighting to enhance the sense of spaciousness and larger pivoting overhead stowage bins.
