VietNamNet Bridge – The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has decided to establish a council to choose Vietnam’s best film for the Oscar Award in the periods of 2012-2014.

The council consists of 12 members, chaired by Deputy Minister Huynh Vinh Ai. Dr. Ngo Phuong Lan, the newly-appointed chief of the Vietnam Cinema Agency, is the vice chair.
Council members include Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh - head of the International Cooperation Department, People’s Artist Bui Dinh Hac – Chairman of the Central Feature Film Censorship Council, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Ngat – Vice chair of the Vietnam Cinema Association, Mr. Nguyen Huu Thuc – head of the Culture and Art Department of the Central Information and Education Committee, Mr. Nguyen Danh Duong – Director of the National Cinema Center, Mr. Vu Xuan Hung – Deputy director of the Vietnam Feature Film Studio, Ms. Ly Phuong Dung – Chief of the Art Department of the Vietnam Cinema Agency, cameraman Pham Thanh Ha, screenwriter Trinh Thanh Nha and painter Vi Ngoc Mai.
The council is responsible for choosing the best feature film of the year to send to the Oscar Award to compete for the Best Foreign Film title.
The council will select the nominee for the 2013 Oscar Award in late September.
Director Luu Trong Ninh’s Thang Long Aspiration was Vietnam’s candidate at the 2012 Oscar Award.
