The annual ‘Autumn Melody 2012’ concert will take place at the Opera House in Ho Chi Minh City from August 17-19.
The concert will feature local and foreign artists of the HCMC Ballet Symphony Orchestra and Opera (HBSO). There will also be artists studying and working at home and abroad, likely conductor Le Phi Phi and violinist Hoang Linh Chi.
The first day will present to music lovers an opera titled ‘Dido and Aneas’ by composer Henry Purcell with participation by Norwegian artists.
The second performance is a ballet ‘Carmen’ and a contemporary dance number called ‘Fragments of Dreams’ by People’s Artist and director Kim Quy, choreographers Nguyen Phuc Hai and Nguyen Phuc Hung.
The last day of the concert will be in two parts, an introduction of Vietnamese classic works composed by Nguyen Van Thuong, professor and musician Hoang Cuong and musician Nguyen Manh Duy Linh; and a performance of famous movie soundtracks from Godfather, James Bond, Titanic, Pirates of the Caribbean, Basic Instinct, Amarcord, Blue Tango, and The Pink Panther performed by conductor Le Phi Phi, violinist Hoang Linh Chi, oboist Pau Rodriguez and the HBSO orchestra.
Notably, a free concert performed by artists of HBSO under baton of conductor Le Phi Phi will be held at the municipal Opera House on August 24 for students and young people.
Since it began in 2005, the annual ‘Autumn Melody’ concert has received a lot of support and contributions from hundreds of local and foreign artists, and regarded as a place for Vietnamese and foreign musicians to meet and exchange the latest in music news, and where music lovers can have a great experience.
Ticket prices are from VND 250,000 to VND 500,000.
