The Hanoi 2012 International Piano Competition, hosted by the Vietnam National Academy of Music for the second time, will take place from September 4-11 in Hanoi.
52 pianists from nine countries and territories have registered for the competition, which will be a good chance for contestants from around the region and the world to get to know each other.
The contestants will be divided into three groups, with categories for pianists aged 10-13, 14-17, and 18-25.
The competition’s jury comprises of distinguished professors and musicians from Vietnam, Russia, France, Australia, Japan and the Republic of Korea. Professor Tran Thu Ha will chair the jury. Well-known Vietnamese pianist Dang Thai Son will be the competition's honourable president and art director.
The first competition, held by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2010, attracted 60 candidates from 10 countries. This year, Vietnamese candidates will come from the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory of Music and Hue Academy of Music College of Fine Arts./.
