VietNamNet Bridge – The idea of building a museum of General Vo Nguyen Giap was introduced at a meeting held by the Museum of History and the Association of Historical Science, on the occasion of General Vo Nguyen Giap’s birthday (August 25).
General Vo Nguyen Giap’s health is still stable
The idea was warmly supported by participants, including historian Duong Trung Quoc, Secretary General of the Association of Historical Science.
The museum may be opened at the General’s French-styled villa on Hoang Dieu Street.
“There are three best bomb shelters in Hanoi. One of them is inside General Vo Nguyen Giap’s house,” veteran Kim Son, who worked at the general headquarters where the legendary General worked during the war.
The general headquarters is also located on Hoang Dieu Street and it is part of the Thang Long ancient citadel.
“We have many documents about the General, including those that are still listed as secret. I wish that these documents will be made public in the near future to make clear the portrait and the position of the General in the history,” Kim Son said.
“Some documents may be still named secret but we can prepare books, pictures and films about the General,” said Pham Duc Hung, who shot films and took a lot of photos of General Vo Nguyen Giap.
