VALC transferred this aircraft to the National Flag Carrier of Vietnam (Vietnam Airlines) following a leasing contract between the two sides.
From one of the most popular brand names in the world, the Airbus A321-200 is a mid-range aircraft, and can seat 183 passengers in a two-class layout or 220 in an all-economy format.
Besides this contract, earlier, VALC received and transferred 5 ATR 72-500 aircraft for Vietnam Airlines in 2010, and 1 EC 155-B1 helicopter for the Northern Helicopter Corporation in 2011.
The operation of VALC is directly contributing to the development of the national fleet of Vietnam Airlines, as guided by the Prime Minister, as well as confirming its power in the international aircraft leasing market.
According to Ms Nguyen Thi Thanh Van, Head of Investment Department of Vietnam Airlines, over half of the carrier's fleet is leased from international partners. VALC is the first company in the nation, owned by a Vietnamese partner, in charge of purchasing and then transferring aircraft to Vietnam Airlines.
Established in 2007, co-founders of VALC are the Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam, Vietnam Airlines, PetroVietnam Finance Joint Stock Corporation and Vinacapital./.
