Tours to terraced field areas to be promoted
|
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism will team up with domestic travel agencies in a joint fact-finding tour of terraced field areas in the northern mountainous provinces of Yen Bai and Lao Cai in September to consider opening more tours to the region.
According to the Administration, the move is to strengthen linkage between travel agencies and promote tourism development in the Northwest provinces.
Tours to the provinces are considered to be attractive as terraced rice fields are associated with farming habits and distinctive cultural characteristics of Mong ethnic people in Mu Cang Chai district in Yen Bai province and Day, Dao and Tay ethnic peoples in Sa Pa town in Lao Cai province.
Participating in the tour, travelers will have a change to enjoy natural beauties and join in daily life of the local people.
For a long time, terraced fields in the northwestern mountainous areas of Vietnam have not only provided a great inspiration for photographers but also been an attractive destination for tourists due to the imposing beauty.
Terraced rice fields in Sa Pa were voted as one of seven most beautiful and impressive ones of Asia and the world by readers of the US’s magazine Travel and Leisure, while terraced rice fields in Mu Cang Chai were recognised as national heritage by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism in 2007.
