Nguyen Thai Minh, a young Vietnamese guitarist who won third prize at the 21st Annual Northeast Guitar Festival, held at the Eastern Washington University in the USA, will return to Vietnam for a performance at the “Back to Basics” show at French Culture Centre (L’espace) in Hanoi on August 11th 2012.
This is the 7th “North-South Guitar Exchange” program launched by musician Tuan Khang and held every 3 months. Having been students of Tuan Khang, the musicians Nguyen Thai Minh along with Dang Truong Giang will perform classical guitar works of Tedesco and Tarrega, Lobos in turn…
Born in 1988, Nguyen Thai Minh has never taken part in any regular guitar class. He was taught to play guitar by several different musicians at the age of 13.
Studying business in the USA, he always plays guitar in his free time and sometimes hired to perform at events.
In 2008, Thai Minh was presented with 1,700 USD from the University of Puget Sound and went to USA to study. After graduation, he continued to be accepted for a master class and became assistant professor at University of Wisconsin.
Earlier, the Vietnamese student was one of the 6 finalists at the International Alhambra USA Competition, held in Texas in April, 2010./.
