TV specials celebrate National Day
|
VietNamNet Bridge – HCM City Television (HTV) has introduced special programmes this week to mark the 67th anniversary of National Day on September 2.
Duong Thanh Tung, deputy director of the station's Culture and Entertainment Division, said music shows would highlight revolutionary music.
"Our shows feature popular songs in praise of people and soldiers who devoted their lives to fight for the country's independence," he said.
The highlight will be To Quoc Yeu Thuong (Our Beloved Country), a variety show staged by dozens of professional performers in music, dance and theatre. It will air on HTV9 channel in the evening on September 1.
A documentary, Mua Thu Lich Su (The Historic Autumn), will be aired on September 4. Filmmakers spent months collecting information and documents from local historians and witnesses to make the works.
In Ha Noi, an open-air music concert on September 3 at Bach Thao Park will feature award-winning works by veteran composers Tran Huu Bich, Dinh Trung Can and Thanh Binh. All of the pieces will feature the themes of peace and love.
Violinist Doan Hoa and pianist Thuy Trang will perform with support from the Viet Nam Symphony Orchestra. The show will be rebroadcast on HTV9 on September 5.
Old photos spotlight beauty of Ha Noi
Restored photos of Ha Noi streets from the end of the 19th century to the mid-20th century will be on display in the capital from Thursday, as part of the programme to celebrate National Day on September 2.

The exhibition will be held at Exhibition House at 45 Trang Tien Street until September 4. It can also be seen on website www.sohoahanoi.com from 4pm Thursday.
Nguyen Khac Loi, deputy director of Ha Noi's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, which organised the event, said the more than 100 photographs on display would help young people respect the city's rich cultural and historical values.
"We also aim to promote its image to domestic and overseas friends," Loi said.
Important documents concerning Ha Noi during this period will also be on display.
The 2D and 3D photographs were produced by 3D Company, which is a group of young Hanoian architects who spent seven years collecting the photos from museums, historians and friends.
One of the group, architect Nguyen Van Quang, said young people like him, who were born and grew up in the city, were not only passionate about the city's history but were also thirsty to discover its hidden beauty and charms.
"We decide then to use technology to present to a wider audience the cultural and spiritual values of our beloved city," he said.
The group also wanted to send a message about environmental protection by showing famous sites in Ha Noi fully covered in snow due to climate change.
"The sites of Ha Noi like One-Pillar Pagoda covered with snow, do you want to see that?" Quang said.
Theatre
HCM City's Tran Huu Trang Cai Luong Theatre will tour to rural districts of Cu Chi and Hoc Mon to stage special shows beginning on Sunday night, as part of its activities to mark the National Day.
Veteran and young cai luong (reformed theatre) artists will sing and dance together in new plays depicting President Ho Chi Minh and his revolutionary career.
The city's Youth Cultural House this week launched many cultural and community activities, which have attracted several thousand young people every night.
Student amateurs from local universities will perform in historical dramas that highlight the country's greatest victories.
