Sovereignty on Truong Sa Archipelago on display
An exhibition entitled ‘Sea of Vietnam’ on Tuesday opened at the Can Tho International Exhibition Fair Center, displaying photos and artifacts related to Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagoes. The event, running until Monday, is aimed at marking the 67th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2. On display are 70 images, documents and artifacts related to the archipelagoes in order that the Mekong Delta’s residents can discover the historical data and geographical knowledge as well as the sovereignty of the country on the archipelagoes. The show also features activities of the navy forces in an effort to protect the nation’s sovereignty as well as images of soldiers who continue to develop and protect the archipelagoes and local residents in the mainland who are trying to raising their voices to protect the sea area. Visitors to the show will also have a chance to see images of cay bang (malabar almond tree), a symbol for will and effort of soldiers and residents in Truong Sa. It also showcases century-old documents written in Chinese script of kings Gia Long and Minh Mang under the Nguyen Dynasty with royal orders to the army in Hoang Sa to exploit seafood on the East Sea and the landmark decision to protect the waters of the nation.
