The Prime Minister has approved the National Target Program for Culture in the 2012-2015 period, with VND7.399 trillion set aside to restore and preserve intangible heritages, and develop traditional cultures and arts.
Two-thirds of the program’s funding, VND5.16 trillion, will be spent on renovating and restoring heritages in four years’ time of the program.
The Government each year will restore 60-90 heritage sites, prevent degradation for 300-400 sites and buy more artifacts for museums in provinces and cities nationwide.
With this program, the Government aims to restore and preserve 300 heritage sites which are recognized as national heritages, prevent degradation for 1,200-1,500 national venues and carry out 500 projects of collecting and preserving intangible heritages.
Several projects relating to the cultural, sport and art development will also receive investments from the program.
In particular, 500 commune-level and 3,000 hamlet-level cultural houses and sport grounds will be built. In addition, the program will invest in seven new centers for traditional art performance and 30 traditional art performance programs in this period.
