(CPV) – The HCM City Department of Culture, Sport and Tourism, in co-ordination with the City’s Tourism Association, announced the results of voting for 100 interesting things about the city on August 21.
After three months of voting, the selection council revealed the results from 248 candidates for 20 categories.
The programme aims to discover typical cultural values and special tourism products to introduce and promote widely the image of a safe and friendly city to both foreign and domestic tourists.
In 2009, HCM City organized the first “Ho Chi Minh City – 100 interesting things” program. The HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism used the information in USBs, DVDs, postcards and guide-books in Vietnamese and English.
The list of the second “HCM City – 100 interesting things” include:
1. Five typical museums: The War Remnants Museum, the HCM City History Museum, the Ho Chi Minh Museum – HCM City branch, the HCM City Museum, the HCM City Fine Arts Museum.
2. Five typical architectural works: Notre Dame Cathedral, Giac Lam Pagoda, the Central Post office, the Municipal Theatre of HCM City (Sai Gon Opera House) and Hai Thuong Lan Ong Quarter.
3. Five typical historical, cultural and art relics: the Cu Chi Tunnel, Independence Palace, Sac Forest – Can Gio Base, Thien Hau Temple, Emperor Temple.
4. Five interesting leisure destinations: the Suoi Tien Tourist Site, Dam Sen Culture Part, Binh Quoi Tourist Site, Thao Cam Vien, A Glimpse of Vietnam Tourist Site
5. Five typical traditional markets: Ben Thanh, An Dong, Binh Tay, Soai Kinh Lam and Tan Dinh
6. Five typical tourism types: ecological tourism, gastronomy, city tour, shopping and waterway.
7. Five typical tourism events: Spring Flower Road, HCM City Tourism Festive Days, Southern Fruit Festival, Tao Dan Spring Flower Festival and Delicious Dishes Gastronomy Festival from Countries around the World.
8. Five typical luxury hotels: Sheraton, Caravelle, Majestic, Park Hyatt Saigon and Rex.
9. Five typical business hotels: InterContinental, Asianna Saigon, Windsor Plaza, Legend Saigon and Continental.
10. Five typical places for exhibition and conference: White Palace, the Saigon Exhibition and Fair Centre, the Phu Tho Gymnasium, the Van Thanh Tourist Site, the Tan Binh Exhibition and Fair Centre
11. Five shopping places most favoured by tourists: Tax Trade Centre, Vincom Trade Centre, Crescent Mall, Miss Ao Dai, Minh Phuong Lacquer and Fine Arts Store12. Five restaurants most favoured by tourists: Muoi Xiem Country Pancake, Cham Charm, Saigon Cooked Rice, Mandarin and Ngon.
13. Five typical souvenir products: Vietnamese Dress, Palm-leaf Conical Hat, Hand-made Embroidery, Silk and Sandy Picture
14. Five Southern delicious foods: Country Pancake, Goi Cuon, Cooked Broken Rice, Spring Roll and Braised Fish.
15. Five perfect places for night entertainment: Ban Nguyet River, Pham Ngu Lao Ward, Hard Rock Cafe, Megastar Cinema and Saigon Bar.
16. Five typical art performance places: the Opera House, Rong Vang Water Puppetry Stage, Idecafe Stage, Hong Van Theatre and Small Stage Theatre.
17. Five favourite spa and health care locations: Ngoc Anh Spa, Sen Spa, La Cochinchine, Authentic Spa and Anam QT Spa.
18. Five exciting cafes: Highlands, Trung Nguyen, Gloria Jeans, Central and Windows.
19. Five typical road transport brands: Taxi Mai Linh, Taxi Vinasun, Phuong Trang Company, Vietravel, Hoa Binh Travel Company.
