Diners wanting to discover the unique features and tastes of Hue royal dishes can join two events hosted this month by Phan Ton Tinh Hai, one of the three judges of the Iron Chef reality show in Vietnam.
Guests can inspect Hai’s six dishes of the Hue royal citadel consisting of Phuong Hoang Vu (roll stuffed with pork, mushroom and egg), Salad Rong (dragon salad), Sup yen Ngu Thien (bird-nest soup), Kim ke Bat Buu (grilled chicken accompanied with egg, shrimp, crab and sausage), Yen tiem ngu qua (bird-nest steamed with five fruits) and Che yen hat sen boc nhan long (lotus sweet soup with longan fruit and bird-nest). These foods were popular treats for kings and high-ranking mandarins in the Hue royal citadel.
Hai will also explain how to trim fruits and vegetables into artworks and food displays in Hue royal style.
Furthermore, participants can exchange knowledge on food culture and cooking styles with the chef who runs a cooking school for locals and foreigners alike at The Mint Culinary School in Phu Nhuan District.
The meal, which includes a free flow of wine, soft drink and mineral water, is VND1.46 million++( or US$70 ++).
The events takes place at the Dining Room of the Mint Culinary School at 778/45-47 Nguyen Kiem Street, Phu Nhuan at 10 a.m. on Saturday and 6 p.m. on September 29.
