The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on Tuesday announced the second Central Highlands Cultural Days in 2012 from Tuesday to September 2 at Vietnam Culture and Arts Exhibition Center at 2 Hoa Lu Street, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi.
The event has the participation of Daklak, Dak Nong, Gia Lai, Kon Tum and Lam Dong provinces and the People’s Committee of Hanoi City to mark the 67th anniversary of the August Revolution, National Day on September 2 and the traditional day of the culture, sports and tourism sectors under the ministry (August 28).
The opening ceremony with the theme of Tay Nguyen - Nhung sac mau van hoa (The Central Highlands – Colors of cultures) is a general program to introduce typical features of the Central Highlands culture like a gong performance, a wine invitation to guests and traditional costumes’ parade, among others.
The event’s purpose is to introduce and promote the tangible and intangible values of the Central Highlands culture, to encourage ethnic minority people to live in solidarity to build a prosperous life.
In the framework of the event, there are photo and artifact exhibitions about the Central Highlands in general and specific exhibitions of each participating province.
Moreover, there are art performances and a festival featuring folk songs, dances, traditional musical instruments, costumes and folk games of ethnic minority people like Gia Rai, Ba Na, Ede, Xo Dang, M’Nong, K’Ho, Ma, Chu Ru, Gie Trieng, Brau and Ro Mam.
There are exchange programs consisting of Tay Nguyen – Nhung nam thang khong quen (The Central Highlands – unforgettable moment) between war veterans who joined in the first battle to liberate Buon Ma Thuot in 1975; a meeting between researchers, scholars and to develop the gong cultural space, an intangible heritage of humans and a music performance by Meritorious Artist Ro Cham Pheng, musician Nguyen Cuong, artist Linh Nga Niek Dam, Yphon Ksor, YZoen and ADud.
There’s also a roundtable on preserving and promoting traditional values of the Central Highlands.
