Hanoi displays ancient documents of Nguyen Dynasty
Ancient and priceless documents belonging to the Nguyen Dynasty, dating back hundreds of years and written on ‘Do’ paper, will be on display in Hanoi from August 15 to December 31 this year. These valuable documents have original seals of five kings of the Nguyen Dynasty namely, Gia Long, Minh Mang, Thanh Thai, Duy Tan and Bao Dai, and have been carefully displayed by the Center for National Archives & Records 1. In related news, Japan will provide US$10 million to restore the ancient Can Chanh Palace in Hue Citadel during the period 2013-2020. Can Chanh Palace was built in 1804 as a venue for the King to host important ceremonies and festivities, and where he convened his court and received foreign dignitaries. The palace was the Forbidden Citadel's largest and most beautiful structure, before it was destroyed in 1947, during the war. A conference on restoring Hue relics and Can Chanh Palace was held at the Duyet Thi Duong Royal Theatre in Hue Citadel on August 9 by Japan's Waseda University and the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, attended by almost 100 local and foreign scientists and experts.
