This information was released during a working visit by Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan to VIASM on August 9th. The Deputy Minister appreciated the activities of the Institute over the past time. He hoped that Vietnam would see true improvement in the teaching staff for Maths in universities in the next ten years. The congress will draw the participation of Prof. Ngo Bao Chau and leading French and Vietnamese mathematicians. This event will be organised by the French Mathematical Society (SMF), the Vietnam Mathematical Society (VMS), the University of Hue and Vietnam Institute of Advanced Study in Mathematics (VIASM). The congress will include plenary talks and parallel sessions. It may include a poster session. There will be also talks of general interest, discussions on the cooperation in mathematics between France and Vietnam, and the role of mathematics in the society, in particular the relationship between mathematics and industry. This will be the first international-scale mathematic congress to be held in Vietnam./.
