His neighbors quickly discovered the incident but the collector passed away at his home. Son was a heart patient. The collector was brought to his home town in Ninh Binh province for burying. The collector’s death was a very bad news for the community of artists in HCM City. The news was quickly spread on the Internet and many people showed their mourning. Son was born in 1968 and earned a bachelor of chemistry. He then became a businessman but he had a great passion for painting. He stopped doing business to pursue his passion for the last 15 years. He mainly collected sketches of wars and wartime paintings. He left around 500 artworks. Son’s collection consists paintings by more than 100 Vietnamese painters, including Tran Van Can, Nguyen Hiem, Nguyen Cao Thuong, Hoang Tram, Van Tam, Do Dinh Hiep, Thai Tuan, Nguyen Tien Trung, Ta Thuc Binh of the past and contemporary artists like Phung Quoc Tri, Tran Hai Minh, Huynh Phu Ha, Nguyen Huy Khoi, Nguyen Quang Vinh and Le Kinh Tai.
