CPV) - On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of establishment of full diplomatic relations (7/1/1972 – 7/1/2012) and 5th anniversary of strategic partnership (7/2007 – 7/2012) between Vietnam and India, an exhibition titled “Vietnam – India Relations: Solidarity, Cooperation and Development” has been open at the Ho Chi Minh Museum this morning, 10 August 2012.
Attending the opening ceremony of the exhibition, there were Mr. Ho Anh Tuan, Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Socialist Republic of Vietnam (SRV); Mr. Ranjit Rae, Ambassador of India to Vietnam, press and friends.
Addressing the ceremony, Mr. Ho Anh Tuan, said: The exhibition is organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of SRV and the Embassy of India in Vietnam on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of establishment of full diplomatic relations (7 January 1972 – 7 January 2012), 5th anniversary of strategic partnership between Vietnam and India (July 2007 – July 2012), 65th anniversary of Independence Day of India (15 August 1947, 15 August 2012), and the “Year of Vietnam – India Friendship 2012”.
He added: “Vietnam and India are two countries, in spite of distance, but have close relations and similarities in many aspects such as history, culture, economy, politics, religions, etc. Through the ups and downs and variations in the history of the two nations, such close relationship and similarities have been maintained and have made a solid foundation for the formation and continued development of friendship and cooperation between two countries.
We strongly believe that the exhibition is a significant cultural event; it is not only an opportunity for Vietnamese visitors to have a better understanding about history, culture, land and people of India, but also strengthen the traditional friendship and comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and India which continues to grow”.

About 200 photos, documents and exhibits are on display and depict the development of the long standing and cordial relations forged by President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru and nurtured by generations of leaders and peoples of the two countries.
The exhibition comprises of four parts. The first part covers over 50 years of the history of the relations of Vietnam and India, starting from the visit of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru to Ha Noi in 1954 and President Ho Chi Minh to New Delhi in 1958.
The second part covers various visits of State leaders including Presidents Rajendra Prasad, Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, Ramaswamy Venkataraman and Prime Ministers Indira Gandi, Rajiv Gandhi, P.V. Narasimha Rao, Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Manmohan Singh from India, and General Secretaries Le Duan and Nong Duc Manh, State Presidents Tran Duc Luong and Truong Tan Sang, Prime Ministers Vo Van Kiet and Nguyen Tan Dung, and the then Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Phu Trong from Vietnam. The photos on display highlights the cooperation in various fields: politics, economics, defence, security, culture, social affairs, education and training.

The third part depicts daily life, landscapes and people of India and of Vietnam. The exhibition also highlights a series of cultural activities organized during the Vietnam – India Friendship Year 2012.
Many of the exhibits are on public view for the first time. Documentary films on the visits of President Ho Chi Minh to India was also screened. The exhibition promotes greater public awareness of the long history of the Vietnam – India partnership and cooperation, based on the deep bonds between President Ho Chi Minh and Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. It depicts the evolution of our strategic partnership, which is set to grow from strength to strength to the benefit of the two peoples and in the interest of peace, stability, cooperation, development and prosperity in the region.
Also making speech at the ceremony, the Indian Ambassador to Vietnam said: “This exhibition not only depicts the development of the long standing and cordial relations in present, but also clearly depicts depth and warmth of the Vietnam – India relationship. Friendship between our two countries not only based on similar interests and points of view on regional and global issues, but also started from the cultural characteristics and the spiritual traditions of our ancestors in the old times.
The Exhibition will be open for public from 10 to 16 August 2012./.
