The cultural, sport and tourism week in Mu Cang Chai will be held in the four communes of La Phan Tan, De Xu Phinh, Pung Luong and Che Cu Nha in the northern province of Yen Bai from September 14 to 20, reports VietnamPlus.
The event is organized to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Mu Cang Chai District.
The week will introduce the beauty of Mu Cang Chai’s terraced rice fields as well as promote the potential, strength and unique cultural characteristics of the Mong ethnic minority group in Yen Bai to both domestic and foreign tourists.
Therefore, there will be a wide range of activities such as a saluting ceremony of new rice of Mong ethnic people in La Pan Tan Commune, a photo exhibition on terraced rice fields, a market-day for food and drinks, film screenings, sports contests and a folk cultural activities performance.
Moreover, Mong weddings will be hosted at La Pan Tan Commune with full rituals and ceremonies in traditional costumes. There, tourists will have a chance to indulge in the animated atmosphere of the bridal families, to witness the welcoming of the bride, the offering ritual to forefathers and traditional wedding dishes.
Mu Cang Chai terraced rice fields, which are primarily situated in the district’s Che Cu Nha, La Pan Tan and De Zu Phinh villages, draw a large number of travelers who love to take pictures and indulge themselves in the amazing beauty of the national heritage site.
This is also the chance to promote local cultures of Mong people.
