The book has been translated by Nguyen Huy Hoang and Professor A Xocolov and Le Van Nham and sponsored by Thang Long Garment and Textile Businesses Club of Vietnamese people in Russia. Tram was a civilian doctor who worked as a battlefield surgeon during the American War in Vietnam. She was gunned down in disputed circumstances aged just 27 by U.S. soldiers in Duc Pho, in the central province of Quang Ngai. Tram’s diary, which chronicled the last two years of her life, was first published in Vietnam in 2005. It has been translated into 18 foreign languages since then. The movie about her courageous life by Vietnamese director Dang Nhat Minh ‘Dung Dot’ (Don’t burn) was released in 2009. The event is aimed to introduce to Russian readers the brave will and kind hearts of Vietnamese people during war time.
