The diary will be translated by Dr Le Nhan and Associate. Professor Dr. Anatoly Sokolov, from the Orient Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, who has spent many years researching Vietnamese history. The translation is done under the joint initiative of the Vietnam Writers’ Association in the Russia Federation and the East - West Cultural Center. Tram was a civilian doctor who worked as a battlefield surgeon during the Vietnam war. She died at the age of 26 in Duc Pho, the central province of Quang Ngai. Tram’s diary, which chronicled the last two years of her life, was first published in Vietnam in 2005. It has been translated into 20 foreign languages thus far. A film about doctor Tram by Vietnamese director Dang Nhat Minh entitled “Don’t burn” was released in 2009./.
