(CPV) – After over half of month of Champa archaeological excavation in Phong Le village, in the central city of Da Nang, a tower of Champa, dating about 1,000 years old, was found.
According to Vo Van Thang, director of Cham Sculpture Museum in Da Nang city, in mid 2011, archaeologists excavated and discovered many valuable Cham objects at this relic. Since then, Vietnamese archaeologists determined that there was also a tower of Champa, dating from about 10 centuries ago. Therefore, the museum coordinated with archaeologists from the College of Social Science and Humanity under Hanoi National University to continue excavation to find the tower.
Mr. Thang said that scientists are carrying out excavation on the area of about 500m2. Based on excavation results, a plan for preservation, education and tourism development will be made./.
