Day 2: Luang Prabang (B)
This morning we have an excursion by boat on the Mekong River to the holy caves of Pac Ou, the caves are crammed with gilded and wooden images of Buddha.
In the afternoon we embark on a tour of this enthralling town visiting Vat Xieng Thong, The Golden City monastery. Dating back to the 16th century this splendid temple is considered to be the finest in Laos with its low-sweeping roofs as well as a rare bronze reclining Buddha. We will also visit the fine temples of Vat May, Vat Vixoun and Vat That Luang. Followed the visit to temples, we visit the Royal Palace Museum. The palace built in 1904 is relatively new by Luang Prabang standards and is a hybrid of traditional Lao and colonial French design. Originally the palace was constructed to house King Sisavang Vong but the French later commissioned the building. This helps to explain the mix of Lao and French architecture.
Day 3: Luang Prabang – Vientiane (B)
This morning is at your leisure in Luang Prabang before transferring to the airport for our short flight south to Vientiane. Although it is a capital city, Vientiane has the feel of a small provincial town. The wide boulevards are almost devoid of traffic and with its many temples, the city retains the feel of another age. Our tour includes visits to the major temples of Vat Sisaket, Vat Prakeo and the impressive That Luang Stupa, the country’s most important monument. We will also see the Arch of Triumph, the National Museum and the main market. In the evening following the meal you can enjoy an evening stroll along the banks of the Mekong River.
*Note: Flight Vientiane/ Luang Prabang/ Vientiane is not included in the package

Day 4: Vientiane – Ban Na village Trek (B, L, D)
Following breakfast we drive 80Kms south of Vientiane to the Phou Khao Khouay National Protected area where we will embark on a fascinating 6 hours trek of the area. This lush area encompasses a range of landscapes and habitats, from sheer sandstone cliffs to pristine river gorges. Along the way we have a scenic picnic lunch on the banks of the Nam Hi River. On our trek we encounter the villages of the lowland Lao and if we’re very lucky we may even spot a rare wild elephant. This evening we will be the guests in Ban Na village in a basic, traditional home stay built on stilts.
Day 5: Ban Na village Trek – Vientiane (B, L)
For those that wish there’s the chance to go for a short walk around the village in search of more wildlife. After saying goodbye to our hosts we drive to some nearby waterfalls and trek for approximately 2 hours. Following lunch we return to the capital. The remainder of the day is free to explore the city.
